Expressões que, vindo de tempos distantes, ecoam

ainda na nossa memória; Gospel of John: ‘You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.’ Eis como os jesuítas ingleses do Pray as you go propõem a sua leitura: This conversation doesn’t seem to hang together. ‘What are you looking for?’ asks Jesus. But John’s disciples answer with another question, ‘where are you staying?’ Perhaps they are asking, ‘where can we find you, where do you belong, how can we place you and fit you in to our own perspective?’ There’s only one way to find out, and that’s to begin a journey of exploration, spending time with Jesus. We know that this will be the first step for these two men on a journey which will take them far beyond what feels safe and familiar. Imagine yourself into this scene. You don’t know who this man is or where he is leading you. What does it feel like to go along with him? Do you feel eager or perhaps a bit apprehensive? You don’t know where this is all going to lead, yet you stay with him all afternoon. What makes you stay? Andrew wants to share the news of his great discovery. It’s the beginning of an epic story. How does it feel to be at the beginning of it all, witnessing the disciples’ call? How do you want to respond? E agora eis como o nosso querido Tom Petty realiza aquela experiência, a toma como sua, e se apropria daquela expressão, num eco ético: "You can stand me up at the gates of hell, but I won't back down." Bom ano!
